Robert Lewis Miles, 89, of Christian Health Center died at 4:45 a.m. Tuesday, December 20, 2011 at ChristianHealth Center following a brief illness.
Services will be 2:00 p.m. Thursday, December 22, 2011 at Hughart & Beard Funeral Home in Hopkinsville with Rev. Greg Giltner officiating. Burial with military honors will follow in Green Hill Memorial Gardens. Visitation will be Wednesday from 4:00 – 7:00 p.m. and Thursday from 1:00 p.m. until the service hour.
A native of Bennettstown, Kentucky he was born December 24, 1921 the son of the late Lewis Dudley Miles and Julia Pendleton Miles. He was a United States Army Veteran serving in WWII. He retired from the United States Army Reserves as a Command Sergeant Major. He was a member of Hillcrest Baptist Church and a former member of the Lions Club.
He was preceded in death by his wife: Elizabeth Sholar Miles (2006); and his son: Gary Lewis Miles (2001).
Survivors include his daughter: Patricia Miles Morrow of Hopkinsville; his sister: Camille Atwood of Hopkinsville; four grandchildren: Cindy Pyle, Bobby McDaniel, Josh Miles, and Ashley Miles; and two great grandchildren: Steven McDaniel and Olivia Miles.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Lions Club, Hillcrest Baptist Church Building Fund, or Christian Health Center.
