Museum Is Lesson In Intelligence
An extensive collection of military weaponry, especially foreign weapons, is housed in
the home of LTC(Ret.) William L. Howard of Largo, Florida-a former member of the 100th MTC
and a life member of the Association of the Century.
Included in Howards museum are uniforms, displayed on mannequins, from each of
the wars in which the U.S. has been involved. Also included are various types of wartime
equipment. more than 54 models of tanks and a Z-gauge railroad complete with German
landscaping.
In the display he has endeavored to present the full spectrum of military operations in
World War II from the clandestine collection of combat intelligence by front line troops.
Howard describes his display as "a mini history of the subject of Scientific and
Technical Intelligence, Tactical Intelligence and their impact on combat intelligence and
strategic intelligence -- a subject not well understood."
Recently Howards museum was visited by another former member of the 100th MTC
LTC(Ret.) B.A. Woodward. During the Vietnam war LTC Howard served with the Combined
Material Exploitation Center and LTC Woodward with MACSOG. Both had fond memories of their
days with the MTC and the 100th Division.
To schedule a visit to the museum while in Largo, call LTC Howard at 813-585-7756, 8-12
p.m. EST.
